Riding Lessons
Riding:  The art of keeping a horse between you and the ground

At Bear Creek Stables, we know that horsemanship is far more than "keeping a horse between you and the ground." We offer a flexible program for beginning riders which covers all aspects of horsemanship from grooming and tacking to groundwork, and in-the-saddle work. Students will be working in the ring and on our trail course.

At Bear Creek Stables our focus is casual riding skills that the entire family can enjoy. We do not teach competitive riding or ground work.
Note: We do not provide lessons on Sundays.

Beginners of All Ages $25 1/2 Hour Group Lessons

At Bear Creek Stables we teach can teach you more than
just "How to Ride a Horse!" You also develop trust and confidence between you and the horse. We can teach you the full care of a horse. Grooming and care of a horse is an excellent way for you and a horse to bond with each other. While grooming you develop trust and confidence between horse and rider.

Initially you will begin your riding lessons in the Olympic size ring. Advance ground work will take place in this ring

As your experience and confidence grows, you will be introduced to more challenging obstacles.

A few final words to conclude an exciting lesson!

Confidence Park

Confidence Park is designed primarily to expose your horse to a variety of elements in a controlled environment so that they can learn to safely handle unexpected situations when you are out riding. The first phase is for your horse to be able to navigate the course while being led. Once your horse has mastered the course the next phase is for you to ride the horse through the course. Individuals taking riding lessons will eventually progress to Confidence Park on a horse that has already mastered the course with and without a rider.

If your horse does not live with us, please contact Bear Creak Stables  to plan a trip to Confidence Park and we will work with you so you and your horse can master the course!

The intention with The Box is to get your horse in it and to just
stand for a few moments. When you are ready, you turn your
horse back around and exit the same direction you entered.
Looks very similar to The Box. Horses do not like to step on strange
objects. The goal is to get them onto the tarp and to stand for a few
moments.

The cavetti's has three different heights that we can set. The goal is to walk over these without the horse kicking them.
Once your horse masters the walking over the cavetti's you will then trot over them.

A very common site on a trail ride, the fallen tree and no way to get around it. The goal is for your horse to gently walk
over the log without lunging or jumping.

No Barrel Racing here! The goal is to tightly weave around the barrels.

Noodle Mania! This is one of the most difficult things we currently have on at Confidence Park. If it is a windy day,
it just got harder! We simply just want the horse to walk through the noodles in both directions.

Once they master getting thru the noodles with you leading, then it is time to ride thru the noodles!

The Dreaded Tires. By far, the most challenging aspect of Confidence Park's current design. The goal is for the horse to place it's front feet in the single tire and to walk through the group of tires with their hooves in the tires. As you can see, Sonny managed to get to the where he would touch the tire, but notice just high how the other leg is as his other leg keeps it's distance!

Confidence Park also includes a short trek through the woods for a scary view of the remains of an old still.

In the future we will be expanding Confidence Park to include:
Teeter-Tater Bridge
Narrow bridge with railings
Attack of the Killer Wal-Mart Bags!
