Beginner
The first week will cover
beginning horsemanship starting from the ground up. We will cover saddling and
bridling, grooming, leading from the ground, riding the walk and trot, and basic
horse care. Lectures and guest speakers will cover safety in the ring and on the
trail. Campers will take short trails rides and learn simple mounted games

Intermediate
The second
week will build on skills acquired in the first week.
Depending on individual rider progress, campers may advance
to posting the trot, sitting the trot and riding on the
correct diagonal. Week 2 will include more advanced
groundwork on the obstacle course, trail rides and more
advanced mounted games involving multiple riders.

Each week will include horse related crafts
and activities to complement in-the-saddle lessons. |

Friday of each week is Parents' Day,
where each student will demonstrate their new skills in a
show-type setting. |
|
We are limited to
six campers per session and space will fill up fast!

Dress
Code
|
All campers must wear the following while mounted
- Long Pants - jeans or riding breeches preferred
- boots with at least a one inch heel, no gym shoes
- approved ASTM/SEI safety helmet. (May be
purchased from BCS or you may provide your own)
- close fitting shirt with sleeves (no tank tops,
spaghetti straps, ect.)
- No jewelry is to be worn
The following are suggested, but not required
- close fitting, lightweight cloves
- waterproof jacket in case of inclement weather
